FirstCarbon Solutions Delivers Standardized Reporting and Data Management System to Help APT Expand Sustainability Initiatives

WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 14, 2010 - FirstCarbon Solutions, a pioneer and industry leader in environmental management optimization, today announced that Associated Packaging Technologies (APT), the leading source for plastic food trays in the North American frozen food industry, has selected FirstCarbon Solutions for supply chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting. FirstCarbon Solutions is working with APT to create a GHG emissions inventory, produce auditable GHG footprint reports, align reporting to the international standards of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and ultimately help the manufacturer reduce emissions across its global supply chain.

As the world's largest manufacturer of Crystallized Polyethylene Terephthalate (CPET) dual-ovenable containers for the food industry, APT produces 2.5 billion containers per year. Working with FirstCarbon Solutions, APT was able to establish a baseline GHG inventory analysis. Using FirstCarbon Solutions' ghgTrack™ software and services, APT has tapped into a customized, flexible and efficient system for managing GHG emissions and other sustainability data. This foundation will enable APT to expand reporting to Scope 3 emissions and calculate GHG footprints for each CPET container it produces.

"APT maintains a very strong legacy as a sustainable company and we consider effective supply chain GHG emissions reporting and reduction critical to our growth," said Tony Gallo, Senior Director of Sustainability and Applications Development, APT. "FirstCarbon Solutions combines the software tools and expertise to aid us in managing sustainability data, making calculating, reporting and reducing GHG emissions across the supply chain much more manageable."

"Effective data management is at the core of every successful supply chain GHG emissions reporting project," said Dailey Tipton, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, FirstCarbon Solutions. "FirstCarbon Solutions helps APT take environmental data from across its supply chain and turn it into business advantage, while enabling them to stay focused on their core business of developing sustainable packaging."

FirstCarbon Solutions combines environmental consulting and GHG emissions management software to allow organizations to optimize their sustainability initiatives. For regulated industries struggling with how to assure compliance with new environmental reporting requirements, FirstCarbon Solutions provides an end-to-end environmental management solution that helps companies quickly identify and collect the necessary data and accurately calculate a carbon footprint without draining an organization's internal resources. For organizations not yet subject to carbon regulation, but where carbon has a material impact on business operations, FirstCarbon Solutions quantifies the cost of carbon and transforms that cost into business opportunity.
